TERMS & CONDITIONS.
The school may be referred to as inlingua, inlingua Language Center(s), inlingua Fort Lauderdale Language Center, or inlingua Fort Lauderdale Beach Language Center in this Application for Admission and all other supporting documents. The fees, terms, and conditions of admission apply to all courses starting in 2009 and are valid until further notice. They supersede all previous terms and conditions and are subject to the laws of the State of Florida. Only this English version is legally binding. inlingua Language Centers, a language school certified by the United States Department of Homeland Security, is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant students. Eligible students are required to prove financial responsibility, and therefore must provide inlingua with a bank letter or, if sponsored, both a bank letter and a letter of financial support from a company or sponsor. Applicants for an F-1 visa are required by the United States Department of Homeland Security to pay a one-time fee (of $200, as of March 1, 2009). The SEVIS fee must be paid directly to the DHS via the internet or mail. Students (or their parent or legal guardian if under the age of 18 years) must complete and sign the inlingua Application for Admission and mail, deliver, or e-mail the completed application and registration fees to inlingua (see inlingua Application for Admission for details). All students must be at least 16 years of age to apply. inlingua will provide a written Letter of Acceptance as confirmation of the course upon receipt of all required documents and fees and approval by inlingua’s Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). In the event that inlingua does not accept the student’s application, all moneys paid by the student will be refunded in full. Payment in full for all tuition, fees, accommodations, and other services purchases must be made no later than 30 days prior to the commencement of classes. Students who transfer out, change status, leave the country, or otherwise withdraw from or abandon their course of studies before the end of their enrollment will not be entitled to any refunds, except as provided in the “Cancellations” and “Refunds” sections below. In the event that a student is terminated for non-compliance with the program’s rules and regulations (including the program’s attendance requirements), no refund will be issued. inlingua reserves the right to expel any student whose conduct is unsatisfactory, at the sole discretion of the center director, whose decision is final. Examples of unsatisfactory conduct include, but are not limited to, improper loitering; disrespectful behavior; using foul, abusive, or inappropriate language; engaging in disruptive, violent or threatening acts; and sexual harassment. Off-site field trips, activities, and excursions may be offered to students as an optional component of the course. Participation in such activities is completely optional and voluntary. Any student wishing to participate in field trips must first complete and sign a Waiver of Liability form. Group lessons are based on a fixed lesson schedule; each lesson corresponds to a 45-minute session. There is no guarantee that a group will have the same instructor for the entire course. All courses are offered subject to availability. In the unlikely event that a student’s desired course is not available, the student will be placed in the most suitable course available. Due to federal laws which govern international students studying on an F-1 visa, a minimum of 18 hours per week of class attendance is required, depending on the course type chosen. Students must attend classes according to the school schedule. Failure to comply with the program’s attendance policies will result in the student’s termination from the program without a refund of unused tuition. Note that this policy applies only to students studying on an F-1 (student) visa. The class attendance policy for F-1 visa students does not affect the cancellation and refund policies described below. inlingua publishes school and program rules and regulations to maintain high quality standards and a professional scholastic environment for its programs. Acceptance of and compliance with these rules and regulations, as well as with all applicable state and federal laws are contractual obligations on the part of the student. Failure to comply with any of these rules may result in the student’s termination from the program and/or withholding of course certificates. It is each student’s responsibility to obtain health and any other insurance deemed necessary by the student. It is the student’s responsibility to research and evaluate any insurance policy referred by inlingua; however, inlingua makes no claims or guarantees regarding such insurance, and will facilitate insurance for students only upon written request made at the time the student submits the Application for Admission and receipt of the non-refundable payment in full prior to the commencement of classes. Please understand that while inlingua may recommend and/or facilitate insurance companies and policies, such coverage is provided by a third party which assumes sole responsibility for administering such coverage, including payment and refund policies (if any). inlingua publishes a yearly program schedule, which lists all official holidays and breaks (see Price List for exact dates). No tuition refunds or make-up classes will be provided as a result of classes not held due to holidays, breaks, vacation periods, or classes cancelled due to severe weather or other acts of God beyond the control of inlingua. See attached schedule for details, including dates for program holidays and breaks. Students (and their parents or guardians, if applicable) expressly agree that the student’s photograph, quotations, likenesses, and details of achievements may be used for promotional purposes without written consent or notification. inlingua (and its representatives) shall not be held liable in the event that services to be provided to the student are not provided for reasons beyond the absolute and direct control of inlingua (and its representatives). Furthermore, inlingua (and its representatives) shall not be liable for any loss, damage, illness, or injury to persons or property however caused, except where such liability is imposed by statute. No cancellation or rescheduling of classes is permitted. A class missed is a class lost. Make-up lessons, if requested, are charged at the rate of $45.00 per lesson. A full refund of unused tuition will be provided to I-20 students only if an application for an F-1 visa or change of status to an F-1 visa is denied by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. However, no refund will be given if the student withdraws his or her application before adjudication. All requests for tuition refunds and enrollment cancellations must be made in writing. The amount of refund provided for unused tuition, if any, will be based on the date inlingua receives the written cancellation request, as follows: ● 11 days or more before the scheduled start date: Full refund (the $120 application fee is non-refundable). ● 1-10 days before the scheduled start date: Full refund (the $120 application fee is non-refundable), minus a $285 cancellation fee. ● On or after the scheduled start date: students who wish to cancel their enrollment must give at least four (4) weeks written notice. Tuition fees in excess of this period will be refunded at 50% the tuition rate (the $120 application fee is non-refundable). All requests for accommodation refunds and cancellations must be made in writing. The amount of refund provided will be based on the date inlingua receives the written cancellation and refund request, as follows: ● 11 days or more before the scheduled start date: Full refund. ● 1-10 days before the scheduled start date: Full refund, minus a cancellation fee equal to one night of lodging at the highest prevailing hotel rate. ● On or after the scheduled start date: students who wish to cancel their accommodations must give at least two (2) weeks written notice. Accommodation fees in excess of this period will be refunded. Note: In the event that a student is asked to leave his or her accommodation by the host family or hotel, inlingua will not be responsible for finding or providing alternate accommodations. |
